I'm really annoyed at people giving me grief about the way I ship A:TLA. Just because I don't hate on other characters and give these characters a chance in my stories instead of killing/maiming/insulting them in my fics. Just because Mai and Zuko are dating at the end of the series is no reason to hate Mai. She's a great character, I don't think her and Zuko are bad together as teenagers. Bad as adults, but not teenagers, and that's how I write most of my fics, they mutually grow apart. No cheating, no "Zuko I'm a lesbian" and no annoying catfights to the death between Mai and Katara. (Though in crack fics, it's pretty amusing.) Same with Kataang, they grow up and grow apart but don't hate each other. The hating on characters is what starts the shipping wars and fandom wank.
